The 2023 Visit Atlantic City Airshow last week was a huge success, as the event drew 485,000 people to the midweek beachfront to watch the show.
Celebrating 20 years in Atlantic City in 2023, the Visit Atlantic City Airshow continues to be the premiere event from the Greater Atlantic City Chamber, Visit Atlantic City and David Schultz Airshows.
“Despite some challenges and delays due to changing weather conditions, we still drew nearly a half a million people to our city’s beaches and Boardwalk for this event, which is quite extraordinary,” Greater Atlantic City Chamber President Michael Chait, the director of the Visit Atlantic City Airshow, said. “What is even more remarkable is that this year saw an unprecedented number of watercraft in the ocean and back bays, which provided a unique and enjoyable perspective to witness the awe-inspiring aerobatics and maneuvers from the water. As we conclude our 20th anniversary year and look to the future, we celebrate another successful airshow in Atlantic City and are excited for all that is to come!”

This year’s Visit Atlantic City Airshow featured a combination of crowd-favorite military acts like the Army Golden Knights, Air Force Thunderbirds, the reappearance of the Marine Corps AV-8B Harrier Demo Team and local 177th Fighter Wing of the New Jersey Air National Guard, along with civilian acts like Extreme Flight LLC, Scott Francis Airshows, GO EZ Aerobatics, Classic Air Shows — Super Chipmunk, Jim Beasley and more.
Practice Day, held the day before Show Day on Aug. 15, gave performers a chance to “practice” for the big day. This year, it saw the largest estimated attendance to date, between 150,000-200,000 people on the beaches and Boardwalk in Atlantic City.
“We are always trying to find new ways for the public to experience the airshow — this year, we really wanted to highlight Practice Day as an alternative to Show Day. It gives folks a chance to experience the thrills and watch the performances with far less crowds on the beaches and Boardwalk of Atlantic City,” Chait explained.
The Visit Atlantic City Airshow is a community partnership between the Greater Atlantic City Chamber; Visit Atlantic City; the Casino Reinvestment Development Authority; the city of Atlantic City; the 177th Fighter Wing of the New Jersey Air National Guard; South Jersey Transportation Authority; FAA William J. Hughes Technical Center; the Atlantic City International Airport; the U.S. Coast Guard; David Schultz Airshows; and the New Jersey State Police.
