HCCC appoints Jamilah Moudiab as director of DEI for veterans, international students

Hudson County Community College said it recently welcomed Jamilah Moudiab as the Jersey City institution’s inaugural director of diversity, equity & inclusion for veteran affairs and international student services.

Moudiab will oversee the development, implementation, supervision and evaluation of all programs, activities, policies and services for veteran and international students. She will provide vision, leadership and strategic direction to ensure inclusiveness and accessibility; collaborate with multiple campus constituents; and lead targeted enrollment, retention and engagement activities, including community-building programs and celebrations for veteran and international students. She will also help cultivate a welcoming and inclusive environment and develop workshops and other professional development opportunities.

“The entire HCCC family joins me in welcoming Ms. Moudiab to Hudson County Community College,” HCCC President Christopher Reber said. “She will lead and support our DEI services for veterans and international students and play a key role in advancing our culture of care and our overarching priorities of diversity, equity & inclusion.”

“Veterans choose to enlist in a volunteer armed force, taking them from their current circumstances and thrusting them into a world where the unknown is expected. International college students choose to sojourn to the United States for myriad reasons, each one worthy of a closer look,” Moudiab said. “I believe higher education is a true public good, and my mission is to promote veterans’ and international students’ stories and work to fulfill their needs.”

Prior to her new post at HCCC, Moudiab served as director of international admissions and programs at Felician University; senior director for global initiatives at New Jersey City University; international admissions and student services coordinator for Bloomfield College; international student adviser and application manager at the New School; and enrollment associate at Rutgers University.

Moudiab received her master’s degree in global affairs and bachelor’s degree in anthropology and political science from Rutgers University. She is completing work on her doctoral degree in higher education, leadership, management and policy at Seton Hall University.
