Avalon Rehab & Healthcare named RWJUH Hamilton 2024 corporate honoree

Avalon Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center was recently recognized by Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Hamilton (RWJUH Hamilton) as its 2024 Corporate Honoree. Located at 1059 Edinburg Road in Hamilton, the 180-bed skilled nursing center provides post-hospital care, short-term rehab and long-term residential care.

“It’s a true honor for Avalon to be acknowledged for its dedication to serving the community and commitment to compassionate care,” Marquis’ Christina Albano, regional director of market development for Marquis Health Consulting Services, which supports Avalon, said. “This skilled nursing center places great value in its healthcare partnerships and its role in providing services that help bridge the gap from hospital to home.”

Avalon is a preferred provider of RWJUH Hamilton. A RWJBarnabas Health facility, RWJUH Hamilton presented the Corporate Honoree award in partnership with its Development Committee and Board of Trustees at its recent Annual Autumn Affair. More than 275 attendees enjoyed The Roaring Twenties-themed fundraiser and awards ceremony.

Avalon is in the midst of a multi-million-dollar, top-to-bottom renovation and modernization. Rolling out in stages, Phase I, which is well underway, centers on renovating Avalon’s subacute rehabilitation component, including resident rooms and common areas. “Avalon’s new vision combines its long-term care expertise with expanded short-term subacute rehab services to meet regional demand,” noted Albano.

During the modernization, Avalon continues to develop specialty programming in partnership with the area’s top healthcare systems, including RWJUH Hamilton. Physician-led initiatives include Physiatry services, which focus on restoring health and function with an integrated treatment plan including pain management and physical therapy.

In addition to its latest honor, Avalon recently earned a prestigious Gold Seal of Approval® for its quality care and services from The Joint Commission, the nation’s oldest and largest standards-setting and accrediting body in health care.
