Legendary Ramones drummer to do fund-raiser for New Concepts for Living

Hall-of-famer will give drumming demo, take part in Q&A, offer items for charity auction

We’re guessing that there are more than a few Ramones fans among our readers.

If you’re interested in seeing one of the last surviving members of the legendary punk band, you can see drummer Marky Ramone give a live drumming demo and a Q&A session as part of a charitable event to benefit New Jersey adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

The event, Jan. 17 from 7-10 p.m., will support New Concepts for Living, a Paramus-based not-for-profit and leading provider of comprehensive support services for adults with I/DD.

An evening with Marky Ramone will take place at New Concepts for Living’s new, state-of-the-art Achievement Center in Paramus, and will consist of:

  • A live drumming demonstration by Marky;
  • Viewing of rare videos and photos from Marky’s private vault;
  • A Q&A session;
  • A charity auction featuring signed drumsticks, original drum head art created by Marky (below), and a personal studio session at Marky’s New York studio, where the winner will have the opportunity to learn drumming styles ranging from Ramones classics to swing and jazz.

The charitable event was inspired by Marky’s’ longtime manager and friend, Harvey Leeds, whose daughter lives with Rett Syndrome and participates in NCFL’s programs. An industry bulldog himself, Leeds has worked throughout his distinguished career with other iconic artists, such as Pearl Jam, Gloria Estefan, Cyndi Lauper, Southside Johnny & The Asbury Jukes and Rage Against the Machine.
