Moorestown-based Destination Maternity named independent director Melissa Payner-Gregor its interim CEO, it said in a statement Wednesday.
Payner-Gregor will succeed Allen Weinstein, who cited personal reasons for stepping down. The decision is effective immediately.
“We are grateful to Allen for his service on our board for the last seven-plus years, as well as his recent service as interim CEO and the progress that has been made,” Barry Erdos, chairman of the board, said in a statement. “We are also appreciative of Melissa’s willingness to lead the company during this period of transition, and we are confident that she and our senior management team will continue our forward progress, as we to look for the right chief executive to lead Destination Maternity’s next phase of growth.”
Payner-Gregor has held a director position with Destination Maternity for the past eight years. Before that, she served as Bluefly’s CEO from 2004 to 2012, and prior to that, she held senior positions at Spiegel Catalog and Chico’s.
In addition to Payner-Gregor’s new position at the company, Destination Maternity announced the founding of its “Office of the CEO,” grouping Payner-Gregor together with various other senior officials at the company, including Ronald J. Masciantonio, David Stern and Shelley Liebsch.
During the interim tenure, Destination Maternity will be working with Kirk Palmer Associates to find a permanent CEO.
