Wakefern banners and BJ’s Wholesale Club locations now support SNAP/EBT payment capabilities on DoorDash

DoorDash announce on Wednesday that it has collaborated with Wakefern Food Corp. (ShopRite, Price Rite Marketplace, The Fresh Grocer, and Fairway Market stores in New Jersey) and BJ’s Wholesale Club to offer SNAP/EBT payment capabilities on the DoorDash Marketplace.

Now, SNAP beneficiaries across the Garden State can order fresh and affordable groceries from their local Wakefern Corp. banner store or BJ’s Wholesale Club via DoorDash – from organic produce and frozen foods to pantry essentials for the family.

According to a recent 2024 DoorDash study, 61% of respondents feel self-conscious about using SNAP benefits in-store, and 81% of these respondents say that grocery delivery helps them feel less self-conscious. Additional highlights of the report include:

45% use grocery delivery because they have difficulty accessing transportation to the store
74% say that online shopping helps them buy more fruits and vegetables without spending more on groceries overall.

“Since launching support for SNAP/EBT payments in 2023, our network of stores that accept SNAP/EBT online payments on the DoorDash Marketplace has grown to over 15,000 across the United States,” Fuad Hannon, VP of New Verticals at DoorDash said. “We’re proud to offer online grocery delivery to SNAP beneficiaries, helping them access fresh, affordable food regardless of their circumstances – whether they face time constraints, limited transportation, or mobility challenges. The addition of SNAP/EBT payments to these partners on DoorDash underscores our ongoing commitment to breaking down barriers to food access nationwide.”
