Baker Donelson adds 26 attorneys, opens offices in Princeton and Iselin

Baker Donelson, a law firm with a large presence in the Southeast, said Monday it added 26 attorneys, including a New Jersey-based health care transactional team, a litigation team, and several real estate attorneys.

Baker Donelson’s move represents a major expansion into new areas, including New Jersey. The firm is opening offices in Princeton and Metropark in Iselin.

Baker Donelson Chair and CEO Timothy M. Lupinacci said, “As a national firm, expanding our footprint to include New Jersey is exciting, and our growth will continue to be driven by adding the right talent who share our vision.”

Health care law has been evolving rapidly to keep pace with advances in technology, such as the integration of AI in health care; changes in regulations and compliance; and safeguarding data privacy and security.

Baker Donelson’s health law group has more than 200 attorneys in 11 states and the District of Columbia serving the healthcare industry. This move expands the practice and deepens the firm’s experience in health law.

All of the new hires are joining from the New York-based health law firm of Epstein Becker Green, which has offices in Newark. Of the 26 new attorneys, 17 are joining as shareholders, two as of counsel, and seven as associates. Two paralegals and six support staff are joining as well.

Among the new shareholders are Gary W. Herschman, who will serve as co-chair of Baker Donelson’s health care transactions group, and Anjana D. Patel, who will be managing shareholder of both the Metropark and Princeton offices.

“This is a tremendous addition to our health practice,” said Michaela D. Poizner, chair of Baker Donelson’s health law and public policy department. “It not only builds on our existing national practice but also deepens our capabilities in areas we’ve been intently focused on expanding, including private equity transactions and payor-provider litigation.”
