Cherry Hill Mall adds Dick’s House of Sport, other retailers

Real estate investment trust PREIT announced the next round of additional retailers to Cherry Hill Mall, including a new concept from one of the nation’s leading sporting goods chains.

Dick’s House of Sport will debut at the shopping center. The national sporting goods chain’s new retail experience from Dick’s Sporting Goods offers a blend of apparel, equipment, services, interactive experiences, and community events. The store is slated to open in 2026 and will take up 120,000 square feet. Among its features are in-store experiences such as a climbing wall, multiple golf bays with TrackMan simulators, an outdoor track and field and a multi-sport cage that can be used for baseball, softball, lacrosse and soccer.

Dick’s House of Sport replaces One Cherry Hill, a nine-story building constructed in the 1960s that occupies that corner of the mall.

The introduction of Dick’s House of Sport is an example of a retailer with strong consumer recognition extending its brand appeal with a new, more interactive concept. Traditional malls are under siege from online retailers, and malls are trying to attract businesses that offer consumers experiences that Internet-based sellers cannot. PREIT has a House of Sport at its Viewmont Mall in Scranton.

Joe Aristone, chief revenue officer at PREIT, said, “The addition of Dick’s House of Sport, coupled with other sought after retailers, reflects our strategic approach to capital allocation and our commitment to creating diverse, high-quality shopping experiences. These initiatives will strengthen the mall’s market position while improving overall performance and credit profile of this asset.”

Dick’s Sporting Goods shares are down 17.7% year to date at $188.25.

Other retailers scheduled to open this year include:

  • Coach: Luxury fashion brand known for its leather goods, handbags, and accessories, expected to open for the 2025 holiday season.
  • Dr. Martens: The footwear brand known for its durable and styles of boots and other designs, expected to open May 16.
  • Offline by Aerie: A contemporary lifestyle brand offering a range of activewear and casual clothing designed for movement and everyday ease, expected to open for the 2025 holiday season.
  • Pop Mart: A market-leading character-based entertainment company, expected to open in the fall 2025.
