Unilever to celebrate opening of new U.S. HQ on June 5

Unilever, the British consumer goods company whose products include Ben & Jerry’s ice cream, Dove soap and Vaseline, will hold a grand opening on June 5 at its new U.S. headquarters in Hoboken. The company is leaving its current headquarters located in Englewood Cliffs where it has resided since 2018.

Unilever’s new home spans 111,000 square feet across three newly built floors at the Waterfront Corporate Center at 111 River St. in Hoboken, bringing together more than 1,100 employees from various business units and corporate functions.

The move signals a strategic shift toward a more collaborative, hybrid work environment, while leveraging Hoboken’s transit accessibility and walkability to appeal to New York City and New Jersey metro-area talent. Unilever will join Newell Brands, Lipton, and Walmart on the property. Waterfront Corporate Center offers 1.5 million square feet of Class A space in three buildings along the city’s master-planned Hudson River waterfront.

The new space is designed by Perkins&Will and will feature:

  • A European-style professional kitchen.
  • A full-service salon, a wellness space, innovation, and community hubs for live collaboration and demonstrations.
  • Floors 7 and 8 that are dedicated to and designed for business-unit teams tailored for hybrid collaboration.
  • A town hall and multipurpose event space on the penthouse level (floor 13).

The program will include remarks from Herrish Patel, president of Unilever USA and CEO of Personal Care North America, as well as from local and state elected officials, including  Gov.  Phil Murphy and New Jersey Economic Development Authority CEO Tim Sullivan.

The company did not apply for any incentives from the state in connection with the move, a spokesperson for the New Jersey Economic Development Authority said.
