Saddle River Day School’s Rebels Against Cancer club teamed up with the Childhood Cancer Society (CCS) in Wayne to raise more than $16,000 at a Princess Pancake Party supporting families battling pediatric cancer.
The event featured an afternoon of brunch, raffles and auctions. In addition, it was part of the Adventure Ted Challenge, CCS’ national campaign dedicated to raising awareness and funds for families battling childhood cancer.
“Organizing this brunch in partnership with the Childhood Cancer Society was such a meaningful experience,” said Hannah Gurevich, president of Rebels Against Cancer. “It wasn’t just about raising money — it was about showing kids battling cancer that they’re not alone. Students like us care, and together we can make a difference.”
Childhood Cancer Society is a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping families battling pediatric cancer. Through initiatives like the Adventure Ted Challenge, CCS raises awareness, grants wishes and provides financial relief to families during their most challenging times.
“After beginning our partnership with the Saddle River community last year at Mayor Al and Judy Kurpis’ benefit dinner, it was inspiring to continue that journey with Saddle River Day School,” said Tommy Head, founder and CEO of Childhood Cancer Society. “The incredible faculty and students poured their hearts into Adventure Ted’s Princess Pancake Party, proving the powerful impact young people can have when supported by a caring community.”
