Kalafer extends family legacy, named chairman of Somerset Health Care Foundation Board of Trustees

Somerset County entrepreneur Joshua Kalafer has been appointed chairman of the board of trustees for Somerset Health Care Foundation, the fundraising arm of Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital (RWJUH) Somerset, an RWJBarnabas Health facility.

Kalafer is the owner of Land Rover Princeton, co-owner of Clinton Honda and co-owner/co-chairman of the Somerset Patriots, the Double AA affiliate of the New York Yankees.

He has served as chair of the Somerset Health Care Foundation Golf Outing since 2013, which has raised more than $2 million to support programs and services at RWJUH Somerset. Kalafer joined the Somerset Health Care Foundation’s Board of Trustees in 2021. In 2023, he was appointed co-vice chair of the board.

Kalafer’s appointment is the latest chapter in his family’s years of service and dedication to RWJUH Somerset began with Josh’s father, Steve Kalafer (1949-2021), serving as chairman emeritus of Somerset Health Care Foundation’s Board of Trustees and spearheading several  fundraising campaigns over the past two decades.

The Kalafer family has donated more than $3.5 million to RWJUH Somerset. In recognition of their generosity, RWJUH Somerset dedicated its new Rapid Decision Unit in honor of the Kalafer family earlier this year.

“Through his leadership, Josh carries on his family’s legacy as champions for the advancement of health care in New Jersey,” said Donna Castronovo, vice president of development, Somerset Health Care Foundation. “He brings a wealth of experience as a successful business owner but most importantly a life-long affinity to our hospital and a deep commitment to helping ensure we provide the best medical care to our community.”
