Chubb makes leadership appointments in agriculture unit

Chubb, a Whitehouse Station-based property and casualty insurance company, announced Thursday leadership appointments in its North America Agriculture business.

Effective immediately, Michael Coleman has been named chairman off Chubb Agriculture and chairman of Rain and Hail, Chubb’s crop insurance franchise in the United States.

Coleman previously served as division president of Chubb Agriculture. In his new role, he will be responsible for focusing on key industry issues, strategic planning, management oversight of the Rain and Hail board.

Scott Arnold has also been named division president of Chubb Agriculture, North America, and president of Rain and Hail. In this role, Arnold will be responsible for both Chubb’s crop business and its commercial property and casualty insurance business. He will also head day-to-day operations in the agriculture business at Chubb.

Coleman will serve in an advisory role to Arnold.

“We are fortunate to have had Michael’s expertise running the crop and property and casualty business, and his extensive industry experience and knowledge helped shape Chubb Agriculture into what it is today,” said John Lupica, vice chairman, Chubb Group, president, North America major accounts and specialty insurance.  “Michael will be such a terrific senior statesman for Chubb’s business and the crop industry as he transitions into his new role.”

“Scott’s leadership experience at Rain and Hail for close to three decades, coupled with his keen market insight, makes him an ideal fit for this position,” Coleman said. “I’m looking forward to working with Scott as he makes the transition, and further grow our presence in this space. This appointment reinforces our commitment to the business and the reputation we have become known for.”

Coleman joined Chubb in 1986 and has served in a number of leadership roles since. Prior to ACE’s acquisition of Chubb in January 2016, he was named division president of Chubb’s Agriculture business in 2012. He will continue to be based in Johnston, Iowa.

Arnold has more than 30 years of experience in the industry, with eight of those spent at Chubb. He most recently served as division president, Rain and Hail. He will also continue to be based in Johnston, Iowa.
