Foundation bolsters TESU aid to Coast Guard students

Thomas Edison State University, which earlier this week announced a tuition deferral program for Coast Guard students, said Thursday that the Tuchman Foundation is helping strengthen the pledge of assistance through the creation of a new fund.

The new Coast Guard Educational Fund will join TESU’s pledge to cover February tuition for enrolled Coast Guard students, and help cover their tuition for the next two semesters, should the government shutdown continue. In addition, the fund will include up to $500 per student to cover personal educational expenses, such as textbooks, for the February term.

The pledge could add up to as much as $65,000, the foundation said.

The Tuchman Foundation intends the gift to be the first step toward creation of a broader Military Student Reserve Fund to assist enrolled TESU military students with their continuing education in the face of unexpected circumstances.
