Walmart announced Wednesday it plans to spend approximately $96 million throughout New Jersey this year remodeling, relocating or expanding 13 stores.
It also announced it is launching and expanding several customer-focused initiatives.
“Walmart is strongly committed to enhancing the overall shopping experience in New Jersey,” Glen Spencer, regional general manager for New Jersey, Walmart, said. “We’re investing millions in technology and innovations, as well as in our people. This will significantly benefit our customers, whether they’re shopping in-store or online.”
The following stores will be remodeled:
- 1872 Route 88, Brick;
- 2291 North 2nd St., Millville;
- 55 South White Horse Pike, Hammonton;
- 1885 State Route 57, Suite 100, Hackettstown;
- Route 513 and Interstate 78, Clinton;
- 1303 Centennial Ave., Piscataway;
- 326 West Main St., Freehold;
- 1840 South Black Horse Pike, Williamstown;
- 1 Coopertown Blvd., Somerdale;
- 1501 U.S. Highway 22, Watchung;
- 220 Enterprise Drive, Rockaway;
- 3159 Route 9 South, Rio Grande (store expansion);
- 1601 W. Edgar Road, Linden (store relocation).
The following are customer-focused innovations that will be expanded this year in New Jersey:
- Grocery pickup: will expand at seven stores;
- Grocery delivery: will be added to nine stores;
- Walmart pickup towers: high-tech vending machines will be added to nine stores;
- Fast unloader: A new backroom system will expand to 15 stores;
- Autonomous floor scrubber: will expand to six stores.
