C&W: Goodwill NYNJ to establish outlet store in South Hackensack

Goodwill Industries of Greater NY and Northern NJ Inc. has signed a full-building lease for a new outlet store in South Hackensack, according to Cushman & Wakefield. The commercial real estate firm said it represented the 501(c)(3) nonprofit in its search for the space.

The 125,000-square-foot, newly constructed, single-story warehouse, located at Forsgate Industrial Partners‘ 400 Huyler St., sits on 6 acres and will house a large Goodwill Outlet store, accommodating its ecommerce growth, according to Charles Fern, U.S. industrial broker for Cushman & Wakefield. Fern headed the assignment along with Thomas D. Tucci, Jason Barton, Stephen Shoemaker, Thomas E. Tucci and Elizabeth Rouse.

“This highly respected nonprofit, which has been serving our regional community for more than 100 years, needed a special building — one close to New York, offering highway visibility and providing a mix of warehouse and office space with the ability to accommodate an outlet store,” Fern said. “400 Huyler St. checked every box for Goodwill NYNJ, including 40-foot clear ceilings and 12,000 square feet of mezzanine offices — as well as an established, responsive landlord.”

The South Hackensack store will sell goods by the pound, will operate Goodwill’s ecommerce division and sort goods for recycling, Cushman & Wakefield said.

Goodwill NYNJ currently operates 34 retail stores and 46 programs throughout the New York metro area.
