Bed Bath & Beyond Inc. announced on Wednesday it has named Lynda Markoe to executive vice president, chief people and culture officer, effective in September.
The Union-based retailer said Markoe, who has more than 30 years of industry experience at major retailers, will report to Mark Tritton, CEO and president, and will be responsible for the company’s “people growth pillar”, which focuses on creating a culture that attracts and retains diverse and top performing teams. She will also oversee the cultural transformation of the business.

Prior to Bed Bath & Beyond, Markoe held leadership roles at J.Crew Group Inc., including chief administrative officer and global head of human resources. Before that, she was in human resources at Gap Inc.
Markoe is succeeding Bill Gilooly, who is leaving the company, but will remain in an advisory role to Markoe to ensure a smooth transition.
