Avison Young moving Sherry to N.J. office to strengthen firm’s presence in Garden State

Avison Young Senior Portfolio Manager Dennis Sherry is transferring from the firm’s New York office to New Jersey, strengthening the firm’s presence in the Garden State commercial real estate market.

Avison Young Managing Director and Principal Jeff Heller said Sherry will be leading the charge for property management new business development initiatives for the Avison Young New Jersey office, as well as continue to support projects across the entire tri-state market.

Sherry joined Avison Young in 2020 and served as a key contributor to the continued growth of the New York market’s asset management service line. He brings more than 20 years of experience in all areas of property and facilities management, including portfolio planning, development, due diligence, deal-sourcing and negotiations, as well as asset management.

“We are thrilled to welcome Dennis to the Avison Young New Jersey team,” Heller said. “His experience and creative approach to overseeing portfolios will enhance the asset management services we provide to our clients.

“Creating and maintaining a best-in-class property management platform is critical for our office, and Dennis’ track record, years of experience and industry leadership will help us grow this important service line.”

Sherry has overseen over 30 million square feet of space representing over 100 properties throughout his career. His recent work at Avison Young includes overseeing the asset management for a partnership of Salmar Properties and Madison Capital, a total renovated property in Union Square for Reading International and two new managed properties in Westchester for Core Four Properties.

Other noteworthy career achievements for Sherry include overseeing the Lehman Bros. portfolio of owned/leased properties across Manhattan for the Rockefeller Group as well as leading CBRE’s Asset Services Group, where he supported 15 property managers accountable for 22 commercial office properties across the New York City market.

Sherry graduated from Pennsylvania State University with a bachelor’s degree in accounting and has completed master’s-level courses at New York University’s Real Estate Program.
