Infragistics launches Slingshot, an app aimed at increasing productivity in digital workplace

New platform from Cranbury-based software firm reimagines workplace as single platform where employees collaborate on data analytics, projects, content and chat

Slingshot, an app that aims to create a digital workplace that connects everyone in an
organization on a single platform, was launched today by the innovation arm of Infragistics, a software company based in Cranbury.

The creators say Slingshot creates a digital workplace that streamlines companies’ workplace tech stacks by giving remote, in-person and hybrid teams a single place to collaborate, make data-driven decisions, set goals, share content and communicate within the context of the projects they’re working on.

The platform, which was created in the Infragistics Innovation Fund and Lab, is available as a desktop app and mobile app and can be accessed on any web browser.

Dean Guida, the founder of both Infragistics and Slingshot, said the app is a modern take on the workplace, which no longer is a single physical space that team members occupy during a fixed set of working hours.

Teams are often composed of in-house employees, freelance talent and vendor organizations, sometimes spread across time zones and geographic locations, he said. To adapt to this new reality, companies have scrambled to adopt new tools, but have ended up with more than they need.

As a result, Guida feels employees are spending their time switching from one app to the next to figure out where conversations happened, where content is stored, what others are working on, and where they can find the data they need to make decisions.

Guida said Slingshot eliminates these obstacles so that teams – no matter where they are – can work smarter, make better decisions, and achieve optimal results. Its project management interface features native chat functionality, content-sharing, and a data catalog that acts as a central location for the data that matters to an organization, so teams can make informed decisions through dashboards.

The project, which seemingly was born during the pandemic, actually comes out of Guida’s
experience with Infragistics, which he founded in 1990 and has grown to 250 employees in six global offices.

“Over the past 30 years we’ve developed a unique workplace philosophy for building trust,
maximizing team results and using data to iterate and make informed decisions,” Guida said. “This philosophy is now the backbone of Slingshot.”

“We’ve built a workplace where teams can get work done in the digital realm, during an
especially critical time when organizations are reshaping their workplaces to be productive for in-person, remote and hybrid teams.”

In June 2021, Guida launched the Infragistics Innovation Fund and Lab to create freedom for internal inventors to innovate and fuel the development of new products. Slingshot is one of the newest releases from the Innovation Fund and Lab, which has invested $30M to bring the digital workplace to market.
