Quest Diagnostics acquires assets from Hurley center

Secaucus-based Quest Diagnostics announced it has acquired some assets of Hurley Medical Center‘s outreach laboratory services operation.

Patients and providers in Central Michigan will now have access to Quest’s diagnostic services.

“Given Hurley Medical Center’s mission of access to care, we struggle with reducing services that we provide,” said Melany Gavulic, CEO and president, Hurley Medical Center, said.  “However, we are fortunate that Quest is in our community and able to continue to provide access and availability for patients seeking cost-efficient outreach lab services.”

Financial terms were not disclosed.

“This acquisition underscores the growing interest of health systems in transitioning their outreach laboratory services to Quest Diagnostics amid mounting reimbursement pressures,” Steve Rusckowski, chairman, CEO and president of Quest Diagnostics, said. “Quest has the expertise and scale to drive more value at less cost, and that makes us a strong partner in this changing landscape. With this transaction, we will empower more providers and patients in Michigan and the entire Midwest to access innovative, high value diagnostic services as we also pursue our strategy to accelerate growth.”
