N.Y. Jets, M&T Bank name Just Jersey winner of Small Business Showcase

The New York Jets and M&T Bank jointly announced Thursday they have named Just Jersey the winner of the second annual Small Business Showcase.

Just Jersey, which is based in Morristown, will receive $100,000 worth of sponsorship assets with the New York Jets for the 2019 football season.

“We are very happy to announce Just Jersey as the winner of the Jets and M&T Small Business Showcase,” Neil Glat, president, New York Jets, said. “In partnership with M&T Bank, this program provides a great opportunity to support our community and the local, small businesses within it. The Jets gladly welcome Just Jersey into our family, and we are thrilled to work with them throughout the 2019 season.”

The sponsorship will include 10 EY Coaches Club tickets, stadium signage for all Jets home games, commercial units in Jets gameday radio broadcasts on 98.7 ESPN, and the opportunity to have on-site presence at the Jets Training Camp presented by M&T Bank and at a Jets home game.

The 2019 sponsorship assets will include stadium signage for all Jets home games, commercial units in Jets gameday radio broadcasts on 98.7 ESPN, an opportunity to have an on-site presence at Jets Training Camp presented by M&T Bank as well as an on-site presence at a Jets home game.

Just Jersey said its mission is to boost the local economy by offering handcrafted goods made locally by Garden State artists, designers and other small businesses.

Following the application process, which received more than 200 responses, five small business finalists were invited to attend a Pitch Night at the Atlantic Health Jets Training Center on Monday. Each small business presented to a panel of Jets and M&T Bank executives for final consideration.

“Small businesses not only play a vital role in their local communities but our country’s economy as a whole,” Giuseppe Mastroeli, group vice president of business banking at M&T Bank, said. “At M&T, we understand the importance of supporting small businesses and promoting economic health in the areas we serve. Our partnership with the New York Jets allows us to do just that in Greater New Jersey and beyond. We join the Jets in congratulating Just Jersey and all of this year’s finalists for their inspiring entrepreneurial skills and passion for their businesses.”

All entries were judged on the following criteria: Completion of application, depth of community involvement, worthiness of business and brand, and business and sponsorship category “fit” to partner with the New York Jets and M&T Bank.

The other finalists included:

  • AJ Gourmet Grilled Cheese Soup, Bay Shore, New York: A quick service restaurant offering a variety of grilled cheese sandwiches, soups, salads and sides;
  • Benefits Square, Edison: A small business advisory service on how to retain and recruit employees;
  • Casale Jewelers, Staten Island, New York: A family-owned business offering a wide-range of jewelry designs;
  • Greens Do Good, Hackensack: A for-profit vertical farm that dedicates all profits to supporting individuals with autism.
