Morristown Medical Center and Overlook Medical Center, Valley Hospital and Jersey Shore University Medical Center all were ranked among best 250 hospitals in the country, according to Healthgrades.
Healthgrades did not give specific numerical numbers, but it did say Morristown and Overlook were both ranked among the Top 50.
Hospitals ranked in the Top 250 are considered to be among the top 5% in the country. Those ranked in the Top 50 represent the top 1%.
Healthgrades also ranked hospitals for their specialties. For instance, Morristown was among the Top 50 for cardiac care. These designations are too extensive to list. (Check hospitals individually here.)
Healthgrades is one of numerous organizations that compile hospital rankings annually. The list from U.S. News & World Report generally is considered the gold standard. (See story on its rankings here.)
