Cambridge Continuing Care Campus introduces Journeys Memory Care model

Cambridge Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center and Cambridge Enhanced Senior Living have introduced Journeys Memory Care, a person-centered, comprehensive memory care neighborhood model. Dr. Stephen Goldfine is overseeing the new programs at the continuing care campus in Moorestown.

The Journeys Memory Care model was developed by Marquis Health Consulting Services, which supports Cambridge. Designed by memory care experts, Journeys features a standardized approach to care delivery, practice and management. The campus’ assisted living community and skilled nursing center offer two distinct Journeys neighborhoods.

Cambridge met the new care model’s rigorous set of standards and criteria, which includes benchmarks for the physical plant, evidence-based care delivery, caregiver experience and education, stage-specific life enrichment programming and dining, among others.

Under the leadership of Goldfine, the Journeys programs at Cambridge support residents’ physical, emotional, cognitive and social needs, enabling them to maintain the highest level of function and independence in a safe and secure environment. Dedicated teams are trained and educated to communicate through validation, showing understanding, compassion and support as they join residents through the journey of each day.

A physician with Samaritan, Goldfine possesses more than 30 years of experience and previously served as Samaritan’s chief medical officer. He is board certified in palliative care, with added qualifications in geriatrics and hospice.

“With Journeys, Cambridge is taking its secure memory care neighborhoods to the next level,” Marquis’ Kate Bauer, regional director of market development, said. “Dr. Goldfine is well known in the region and highly respected for his distinctive medical expertise. Cambridge is fortunate to have him leading this progressive new offering.”

A Whole-team Approach
Enhanced training for all Cambridge Journeys staff members – from housekeeping and maintenance to culinary staff, and others who interact in any way with residents – includes a 12-part Dementia Basics Education series, which meets or exceeds state and federal regulations. The training incorporates experiential virtual dementia training to further educate team members on how to best provide care to those living with the disease.

Modern and bright, Cambridge’s Journeys-designated neighborhoods boast a comfortable, home-like feel with dementia-friendly décor. The secure environments feature separate living, dining and recreation spaces. Memory care residents at Cambridge benefit from psychology and psychiatry services, family support services, and rehabilitation and cognitive therapies. The robust life enrichment offering – featuring a range of therapeutic activities such as art, music, sensory activities, reminiscence therapy and intergenerational programming in indoor and outdoor settings – operates seven days per week.

Located at 255 E. Main Street, the 14-acre Cambridge campus sits in the heart of picturesque downtown Moorestown, 12 miles east of Philadelphia.

Journeys Memory Care is part of Marquis’ expanding branded suite of health care delivery models for its client communities. Brick-based Marquis Health Consulting Services provides administrative and consulting services to skilled nursing facilities and senior housing communities along the Eastern Seaboard. The organization’s operational guidance enables its clients to exceed their quality and customer service goals by embracing a progressive, multi-specialty approach to health care and lifestyle.
