Joetta offers inspiration at ROI-NJ’s women’s empowerment event

Last week ROI-NJ played host to a women’s empowerment event, Building Bridges Through Understanding where keynote speaker Joetta shared stories about her journey as a 4-time Olympian, what fueled her perseverance, her purpose today and provided information on how to build bridges of communication.

Joetta left the room of nearly 100 women at the Galloping Hill Golf Course in Kenilworth with plenty of inspirational messages and food for thought.

Key to Building Bridges, she said — communication.

Whether it’s giving feedback, providing the right information to a project team, or drafting a clear and concise email, communicating well leads to higher employee engagement and company success.

The ways to go about effective communication might differ within each situation, but no matter how you look at it, the bottom line of working together involves active listening and understanding.

Joetta reminded the attendees to look at their own selves and to be W.I.S.E.  To go through life and practice Wisdom, be Intentional, Search, and Empower.

One analogy Joetta shared as a call to nurture relationships with wisdom, intention, and empowerment was planting a garden filled with peas (peace), squash (criticism), lettuce (love), and turnips (with optimism).

Let’s continue to ‘plant seeds’ of positivity and growth—both personally and professionally.

A special thanks to JAG Physical Therapy who hosted the evening’s cocktail reception, and to the vendors Beach Bum Beauty, Boozy Brushes NJ, LinkedbyMint, Nyah Beauty, Genie Beauty, KiKi D’s Dress Boutique, The Healing Bra and Uplift IV & Wellness, who were all in attendance and complimented the evening’s festivities.
