Screen Alliance of N.J. to host inaugural film and TV expo

The Screen Alliance of New Jersey (SANJ) will host the inaugural NJ Film & TV Expo on Thursday, May 1, at Meadowlands Arena in East Rutherford. Sponsored by the New Jersey Motion Picture and Television Commission (NJMPTVC) and the New Jersey Economic Development Authority (NJEDA), the expo aims to highlight the state’s expanding film infrastructure and production capabilities.

According to the NJMPTVC, New Jersey has hosted approximately 27,342 film and television productions since 1978, underscoring its status as the birthplace of film. The expo will showcase the state’s production assets, foster industry connections, and highlight economic incentives, including tax credits from the NJEDA for business development in the industry.

“New Jersey is fully equipped and ready to handle productions of any size today—not in the future, but right now,” said SANJ President Gannon Murphy, who also operates Cinelease Studios, Caven Point. “The expo is evidence of how robust and varied the state’s film services and support companies are. From small business owners to major corporate brands, everyone is coming together for this inaugural event.”

Attendees will have the opportunity to connect with industry leaders and explore vendor booths and speaker panels. Major industry players, including Cinelease Studios, will participate, reinforcing New Jersey’s growing presence in film production.

“This expo brings together companies from every sector of New Jersey’s deep and rapidly expanding film and television industry,” said Nick Day, vice president of SANJ and co-CEO of Edge Auto, Inc. “We may be on the opposite coast from Hollywood, but New Jersey has become just as much of a powerhouse for film and television production. Whether you’re here to connect with industry leaders, meet state representatives, learn about the state’s tax credit program, or discuss the future of the industry, this event is the place to do it.”

The NJ Film & TV Expo will be held from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, May 1 at Meadowlands Arena in East Rutherford. SANJ is accepting inquiries for sponsorships and vendor exhibits.
