Judge Mary Gibbons Whipple joins Porzio, Bromberg & Newman

Porzio, Bromberg & Newman announced that the Honorable Mary Gibbons Whipple, P.J.A.D. (ret.) has joined the firm’s Litigation Group as Of Counsel. Judge Whipple brings decades of experience within the New Jersey legal system, including her service as a superior court judge in Morris and Sussex counties, and, most recently, in the Appellate Division.

Throughout her distinguished judicial career, Judge Whipple presided over a wide range of civil matters, including complex commercial and tort litigation, and developed a reputation for her deep understanding of the law, balanced judgment and strategic approach to dispute resolution. Her insight and experience further strengthen Porzio’s ability to deliver sophisticated, high-level counsel to clients navigating complex litigation.

Beyond her legal work, Judge Whipple will also serve as co-chair of the firm’s Professional
Development Committee, helping to lead initiatives that promote ongoing growth and advancement among the firm’s attorneys. Her work will include mentoring and shaping learning opportunities that foster practical skills development and support the long-term success of the firm’s attorneys.

“Judge Whipple’s extensive judicial background and practical litigation insight make her an
outstanding addition to our team,” said Vito A. Gagliardi Jr., managing principal and co-chair of Porzio’s Litigation Practice Group. “Her presence reinforces our ongoing commitment to offering clients the guidance of former judges who understand the inner workings of New Jersey’s court system. That perspective is an invaluable asset in resolving high-stakes matters effectively and efficiently.”

Judge Whipple joins a distinguished group of former jurists at Porzio, including former New Jersey Superior Court Assignment Judges Alvin Weiss (Essex County) and Maurice J. Gallipoli (Hudson County), and former Appellate Division Presiding Judge Jack L. Lintner. With this unparalleled depth of judicial experience, Porzio offers clients a level of strategic counsel few firms can match.

Judge Whipple is widely respected in the legal community for her integrity, analytical rigor and commitment to justice. Her addition further enhances the firm’s reputation for excellence in litigation and appellate advocacy.
