Inroads to Opportunities, a non-profit, social services agency, said June 24 that agency president and chief executive officer, Angela Calzone, was appointed to the New Jersey Community Behavioral Health Planning Council as a family representative.
Inroads to Opportunities provides programs and services to individuals with disabilities ranging in age from 16 to retirement. It says it is the largest skills-training program for those with disabilities in New Jersey, Inroads offers vocational preparation, transition from school to work, job placement and coaching, certificate training programs, day habilitation, and mental health services.
The New Jersey Community Health Planning Council serves in an advisory capacity to the Division of Mental Health and Addiction Services. The council advocates for adults and children with mental illnesses and those who suffer from substance abuse. Their services also include supports that are responsive, appropriate, and effective. In addition, the council aids the Division by providing guidance in decision making.
Before her current post, Calzone served as the agency’s vice president and chief operating officer. Prior to that she served as chief operating officer in a contract position for The Webster Apartments in New York City and for 10 years as a co-managing member of Change & Response Strategies, a consortium of leadership, management, human resources, marketing strategists and corporate trainers.
“While my role as a leader of an agency providing mental health services is important, being a voice of lived experience on how mental health challenges has directly impacted my family is critical to me,” Calzone said.
