The African American Chamber of Commerce of New Jersey (AACCNJ) announced that Tanya L. Freeman, Esq., has been appointed to its new executive role of Chief Strategy & Policy Officer (CSPO).
The CSPO role integrates legislative engagement, supplier diversity accountability, access to capital reform, health equity alignment and corporate partnership development and expands contracting and capital access for Black-owned businesses statewide.
“The establishment of the Chief Strategy & Policy Officer position reflects the continued evolution of this Chamber,” said AACCNJ President and CEO John E. Harmon Sr., IOM. “We are proud to announce that Tanya L. Freeman, Esq., is serving as our inaugural CSPO.
“We are strengthening our ability to align legal insight with policy development, advance transparency and accountability in procurement systems and build strategic partnerships that create real opportunity for Black-owned businesses throughout New Jersey.
“Tanya brings executive governance experience and legal acumen that will enhance our effectiveness and influence at every level.”
Freeman is an attorney and executive leader with more than 25 years of experience guiding complex organizations. Her leadership spans public governance, legal strategy, executive recruitment, fiscal oversight and institutional transformation across both public and private sector institutions.
“AACCNJ has long stood as the leading voice for economic opportunity for Black-owned businesses in New Jersey,” said Freeman. “The creation of this role builds upon that powerful foundation and signals an even deeper alignment between law, policy, and economic growth.
“I am honored to work alongside John, the AACCNJ board and its dedicated staff, as well as policymakers and industry leaders, to ensure that access to contracting, capital and opportunity is not defined by limitation but by possibility.”
As CSPO, Freeman will lead AACCNJ’s legislative engagement strategy, oversee the development of policy frameworks and legal analysis supporting economic reform initiatives and convene cross-sector economic leadership forums.
She will also work with lawmakers, state agencies and corporate leaders to strengthen procurement accountability and expand access to capital and contracting opportunities for members of the AACCNJ.
