The Princeton Review and Entrepreneur on Wednesday announced the results of the Princeton Review’s 17th annual ranking of undergraduate and graduate schools for entrepreneurship studies.
Two from New Jersey made the prestigious list. Nationally, New Jersey Institute of Technology was ranked No. 30 and was the top public university in the Northeast for undergraduate entrepreneurship studies. Rowan University in Glassboro ranked No.44 nationally and No. 7 in the Northeast.
Cesar Bandera, an associate professor in NJIT’s Martin Tuchman School of Management, said NJIT’s dedicated focus is on the importance of training students to become innovators who can positively impact society.
“It validates the changes that we’ve made to the program, because, whenever you make an improvement to a curriculum, it takes many years for the results,” Bandera said.
Bandera, who teaches entrepreneurship courses, sees a greater mix of majors among his students, including those who study computing, engineering and even architecture and design. Indeed, entrepreneurship is not just for business students anymore. What’s more, design students in particular stand out for their ability to present ideas convincingly, according to Bandera.
Meanwhile Rowan’s Rohrer College of Business Dean Sue Lehrman said the latest ranking, which comes amid the college’s 50th anniversary celebration, is significant because it underscores a commitment to embracing entrepreneurship as a means of self-betterment and control.
“The concept of entrepreneurship is extremely powerful and empowering,” Lehrman said. “Whether one thinks of a venture capital-backed technology startup or a corner barber shop, the notion of taking a chance and executing one’s vision is exciting. It is also, for many, within reach, especially if students take advantage of the multitude of opportunities available from Rowan’s Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship.”
Based on a summer 2022 survey the Princeton Review conducted of nearly 300 schools with entrepreneurship offerings, the rankings reported took into account more than 40 data points about the school programs, faculties, students and alumni.

The ranking lists name the Top 50 undergraduate and Top 50 graduate schools for entrepreneurship studies for 2023.
