Horizon renews support for N.J. Pride Chamber

Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey has renewed its support of the greater LGBTQ+ community with a $10,000 bronze partnership level sponsorship of the New Jersey Pride Chamber of Commerce.

Horizon officials said their support is part of a longstanding commitment toward improving the health of the community, creating a new standard of care for all, and building an inclusive workplace culture for employees.

Wendy Lanski, director of enterprise vendor management for Horizon, who also serves as president of the company’s LGBTQ+ employee affinity group, Spectrum, said the partnership fits the mission of the company.

“The NJPCC is helping LGBTQ+ businesses grow and connect with companies like Horizon that are committed to equity and inclusion in every way, including supplier diversity,” she said.

“Ensuring that our employees and vendors reflect the diversity of our members makes Horizon a stronger, more connected company. For 90 years, Horizon has been New Jersey’s hometown health insurer, helping businesses big and small provide health care for their employees. It is every bit as important that we also help those businesses succeed by giving them the opportunity to contract with us.”

NJPCC Executive Director Gus Penaranda said the group was thrilled by the support.

“For the third year in a row, Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey has demonstrated their commitment to the LGBTQ+ business community in New Jersey,” she said. “We could not be more grateful for their generosity and partnership.”

Horizon recently participated in NJPCC’s first-ever LGBT+ Health and Wellness Fair, where the chamber partnered with the New Jersey Department of Health to distribute the latest COVID-19 shots, monkeypox vaccines and testing/screening for HIV to the community and its allies.
