Bayer announces moves to its U.S. executive team

New Consumer Health North America President, U.S. CFO and Head of North America Diversity, Equity & Inclusion

Whippany-based Bayer, one of the country’s leading life-sciences companies, on Friday announced changes to its U.S. country leadership team.

Dave Tomasi will be the president, Consumer Health North America, effective July 1. Tomasi replaces Patrick Lockwood-Taylor, president, Bayer U.S., and president, Consumer Health North America, who is leaving the company to accept a role as CEO at a health and wellness company. His last day with Bayer is June 29.

The Bayer U.S. president will be named in the future.

Tomasi, who has been serving as the chief commercial officer for C.H. N.A., joined Bayer in 2019, holding leadership roles in the Consumer Health Division, most recently guiding strategy and operations across all functions, including portfolio management, retail strategy integration and commercial operations. Tomasi played a key role in the turnaround of the C.H. N.A. business over the past four years, driving operational excellence, financial performance and innovation, and strengthening the North America retail business. Tomasi is a leader with deep experience building high-performing organizations, developing growth strategies and highly successful market plans that deliver outstanding results, including helping guide C.H. N.A. to the multibillion-dollar business it is today.

Tomasi is an active leader in Bayer. He is a graduate of West Point, a proud veteran of the Army and continues to serve veterans through his role as executive sponsor of the BRAVE Business Resource Group. He also serves on the board of BAYPAC, Bayer’s Employee Political Action Committee, as well as the Bayer Fund, the philanthropic arm of Bayer in the U.S. Tomasi also serves on the executive Board for the Consumer Health Products Association.

Prior to joining Bayer, Tomasi spent more than 20 years at Procter & Gamble in a number of leadership roles spanning personal health care, consumer products and retailer partnerships.

“With the appointment of Dave Tomasi as Consumer Health president N.A., we have a seasoned leader with deep knowledge of our industry and customers,” Heiko Schipper, president, Consumer Health Division, and member, Bayer board of management, said. “I look forward to seeing our North America Consumer Health business continue to thrive and deliver the innovation consumers need. We thank Patrick for his outstanding leadership in both Consumer Health and as president of the U.S. business and wish him all the best as he pursues this new opportunity and continues the important work of advancing health and wellness.”

Meanwhile, Guru Ramamurthy has been appointed Bayer U.S. chief financial officer, effective July 1, filling an open role on the U.S. country leadership team. Ramamurthy has been with Bayer for 22 years, most recently serving as chief financial officer of Asklepios Biopharmaceuticals Inc. since 2021, an independently operated, fully owned subsidiary of Bayer. Ramamurthy will continue to serve as AskBio CFO, working in this dual role until the end of the year. He has held multiple financial leadership roles at Bayer, including serving as global finance lead for global oncology, CFO of C.H. N.A., CFO of Bayer Medical Care, head of corporate controlling for Bayer Pharmaceuticals, and global finance lead for hematology & cardiology, among other roles.

Additionally, Asha Hope has joined Bayer as the company’s vice president and head, North America Diversity, Equity & Inclusion. In this new U.S. country leadership team role, Hope is responsible for driving sustainable change across Bayer by infusing diversity, equity & inclusion in the company’s business processes. She also works to ensure Bayer develops, retains and attracts talent, supports an inclusive workplace and tracks and shares progress in DE&I focus areas. Hope previously held DE&I leadership positions at several industry-leading organizations, including, most recently, at DoorDash, where she served as the global head of DE&I. Prior to that, she served as global head of DE&I for the International Consumer Business at Amazon, and held leadership roles at Macy’s and Coca-Cola.

“Our talented and seasoned leaders on the U.S. country leadership team will continue to guide our U.S. business and drive innovation, bringing experience and insights to the team that will make our business stronger and enable us to continue to support our customers, patients, consumers and growers while accelerating growth for Bayer,” Wolfgang Nickl, CFO and member of the Bayer board of management, said.
