Valdes, global business leader and Caldwell U. alum, will join school’s board

Ivonne Valdes, a global business leader and Caldwell University alumna, has been elected to join the school’s board of trustees, the school announced this week.

She will join the board, effective July 1.

Valdes is chief product officer and executive vice president of business development for Sorenson Communications, a leading provider of American Sign Language interpreting and phone captioning services. She also serves as chair of the Hispanic Technology Executive Council Foundation, the Conectado Inc. board and the sales advisory board for CATO.

Named a 2020 Silicon Valley Woman of Influence, Valdes comes to the Caldwell board with a wealth of experience in global leadership, technology, communications and marketing for profit and nonprofit companies including Schneider Electric, Hewlett-Packard Enterprise and Sun Rapid Solutions/Strategic Alliances.

Board Chair Brian Aloia said the group is excited to have her come aboard.

“We are grateful to Yvonne for desiring to share her profit and nonprofit leadership experience with our board,” he said. “In continuing to enhance the diversity of our board, we will benefit from her experience as a champion for inclusion, diversity and education. We are delighted that she has a zeal and commitment for helping our students achieve their dreams and goals and make a difference in the world.”

President Matthew Whelan agreed.

“Ms. Valdes’s global business and technology leadership, her passion for her alma mater and its mission and her desire to share her vision and talents with Caldwell will provide our board with unique perspectives from which to advance academic excellence and opportunities for our students,” he said.

Among the many other recognitions Valdes has received: Infrastructure Masons 2019 Global Diversity and Inclusion Champion Award, the 2020 HITEC Hall of Fame Award, the 2016 CRN Power 100: The Most Powerful Women of the Channel recognition, the 2015 Top 10 Latina Executives of the Year Award, the 2015/2014 CRN Women of the Channel and 2014 HPE Customer Satisfaction Award.
