Seton Hall debuts new online M.S.N. Family Nurse Practitioner program

Seton Hall University is now offering a 100% online M.S.N. Family Nurse Practitioner program to prepare advanced practice nurses to excel in a wide range of patient care services.

The M.S.N.-F.N.P. program specializes in family, adult and pediatric nursing, positioning students for rewarding careers with abundant job prospects in diverse health care settings. Whether students aspire to provide primary or specialty care, the program equips them with the necessary expertise to succeed across the lifespan, from neonates to gerontological services.

The program is designed to meet the demands of the ever-evolving health care landscape and offers unparalleled opportunities for personal and professional growth.

“Because Seton Hall fosters an environment that encourages lifelong learning and the pursuit of knowledge, students are empowered to make meaningful contributions to the art and science of nursing, enabling them to take on leadership roles in shaping health care policies that positively impact patient outcomes,” Associate Dean Kathleen Neville said.

Students who pursue their M.S.N.-F.N.P. have an advantage.

“Our program boasts strong affiliations with esteemed community health care institutions, including Atlantic Health and Hackensack Meridian Health,” interim Dean Kristi Stinson said. “These partnerships provide students with invaluable opportunities, as many of the executive leaders and advanced practice leaders at top New Jersey institutions are proud alumni of Seton Hall nursing programs. This advantage enhances the program’s ability to attract and recruit exceptional graduate students.”

Led by experienced faculty, students study theories of advanced nursing practice and learn to make independent clinical judgments. Courses cover advanced theory and practice, clinical pharmacology, advanced health assessment and clinical decision making, major forces in health care and professional role enactment. Students also gain insights into the peer review process, client advocacy, role negotiation and the development of collaborative, interdisciplinary relationships.

“Students looking for close mentoring and career support will find that our experienced faculty will guide you on your journey to becoming a nurse practitioner. They focus on values like empathy, respect, and cultural sensitivity while setting you on the path to becoming an exceptional F.N.P.,” Stinson said.

The program also focuses on developing students’ leadership abilities, preparing them to navigate complex challenges and drive positive change in today’s health care environment. Graduates are empowered to take on influential roles that shape the future of health care.

Recognizing that many nursing students maintain full-time employment while pursuing their advanced degree, the College of Nursing offers part-time study options.

As part of the program, students complete 600 hours of preceptor-supervised clinical practice across the lifespan. Graduates are eligible to sit for the American Academy of Nurse Practitioner or the American Nurses Credentialing Center Family Nurse Practitioner examinations, further expanding their professional opportunities.

The college is offering virtual information sessions for those interested in learning more about the M.S.N. Family Nurse Practitioner program.

You can register for the next sessions, from 6 to 7 p.m. Oct. 26 and from 2 to 3 p.m. Nov. 7.
