The state’s support of a hub for artificial intelligence research at Princeton University comes with more than just enthusiasm, it comes with $250,000.
On Monday, the New Jersey Economic Development Authority announced that the initial development of the Princeton AI hub will be supported with $250,000 in planning funds from the EDA’s Strategic Innovation Center initiative.
The hub, announced last month with much fanfare by Gov. Phil Murphy and Princeton President Chris Eisgruber, will bring together AI researchers, industry leaders, startup companies and other collaborators to advance research and development. It also will house dedicated accelerator space, advance the use of ethical AI for positive societal impact and promote workforce development to support new technology development.
The hub will work in collaboration with other New Jersey universities, community colleges and vocational schools.
“The AI hub will build on New Jersey’s legacy in innovation and continue to drive the state’s leadership in the rapidly growing AI industry,” EDA CEO Tim Sullivan said. “The opportunity presented by AI aligns with Gov. Murphy’s vision for cultivating high-growth sectors, with the goal of creating family-sustaining career opportunities.”
