Cooper, following strong success of initial opening of new Moorestown Mall campus, eager to launch phase two

Cooper University Health Care, one of the leading academic health systems in the state, continues to buck national trends with healthy finances and strong growth.

It is starting trends, too.

In the ultimate example of bringing health care to the people it serves, Cooper recently opened the first phase of its newest and largest outpatient campus on Route 38 at the Moorestown Mall.

That’s right, Cooper’s Moorestown Campus is a 166,000-square-foot, three-story facility, converted from a former Sears department store that sat empty since 2020. The facility has been transformed into a state-of-the-art outpatient campus offering patients more than 26 medical specialties, a range of diagnostic services, nearly 100 exam rooms, concierge services, a café and other amenities.

Chris Winn, Cooper’s senior vice president, ambulatory operations, said the facility has been a hit since its Nov. 29 opening.

“The demand for access to Cooper’s expert clinical care teams has never been stronger,” he said. “This facility is one of the largest outpatient locations in the tri-state area and will allow us to bring Cooper’s specialists closer to where many patients live and work.”

During the first phase opening, patients can schedule appointments for primary care and the following specialties: bariatric surgery, cardiopulmonary diagnostic services, endocrinology, gastroenterology, general surgery, infectious diseases, maternal-fetal medicine, nephrology, obstetrics and gynecology, orthopaedics/musculoskeletal services, otolaryngology, physical medicine and rehabilitation, plastic surgery, podiatry, pulmonology, rheumatology, thoracic surgery, urogynecology and reconstructive pelvic surgery, and vascular surgery.

Specialists from MD Anderson Cancer Center at Cooper at the Moorestown campus include breast surgeons, gynecologic oncologists and medical oncologists. Cardiologists with Cooper and Inspira Cardiac Care and neurosurgeons from Cooper and Inspira Neurosciences also will see patients at the Moorestown Campus. All these specialties will be supported by laboratory services, pre-admission testing and other services.

The second phase of the new facility is slated to open during 2024. Once complete, additional services will include physical therapy, radiology, infusion services, radiation therapy, an outpatient surgery center and Cooper and Inspira Neurosciences.

In early spring, the outpatient surgical center will open, offering same-day surgical procedures. The center will have six state-of-the-art operating rooms, two procedural rooms and one interventional suite. Patients can recover from surgery or procedures in one of the many private rooms, and their families and loved ones can wait in a comfortable family waiting areas or enjoy the buildings amenities.

“We have expanded our outpatient surgical and procedural capabilities so more patients can benefit from the minimally invasive techniques offered for same day and outpatient procedures,” Winn said. “These techniques often lead to less pain and fewer complications so patients can heal faster and return to normal activities sooner.”

Other amenities at the Cooper Surgery Center at Moorestown include ample parking, telephone translation service that offers more than 200 languages and private recovery areas. Loved ones can keep track of a patient’s progress in the operating room and the recovery unit on a patient tracking board that uses a numbering system to maintain patient privacy.

“We’ve worked hard to create an extraordinary patient experience at the Moorestown Campus that matches the advanced level of care they receive from our expert clinical teams,” Winn said. “We are thankful that so many patients from across the region and beyond who continue to place their trust in Cooper for their health care needs.”
