Oakland Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center earns reaccreditation from Joint Commission

Oakland Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center has recently earned reaccreditation for its quality care and services — maintaining a Gold Seal of Approval — from the Joint Commission, the nation’s oldest and largest standards-setting and accrediting body in health care.

Located at 20 Breakneck Road in Oakland, the 215-bed skilled nursing facility provides post-hospital care, short-term rehab and long-term residential care.

To maintain its Nursing Care Center Accreditation and approval seal, Oakland underwent a rigorous, unannounced on-site review by the Joint Commission, an independent, nonprofit organization; full surveys are required every three years. During the visit, its team evaluated compliance with performance standards across a range of areas, including postacute care, emergency management, environment of care, infection prevention and control and medication management, as well as rights and responsibilities of the individual and leadership.

“The Joint Commission’s thorough review is patient-centric and data-driven with a keen focus on evaluating actual care processes,” Kani Burgos, regional director of market development at Marquis Health Consulting Services, which supports the facility, said. “Undoubtedly, earning reaccreditation and maintaining a Gold Seal of Approval from the Joint Commission is a testament to the Oakland team’s commitment to skilled nursing excellence.”

The prestigious Joint Commission achievement coincides with Oakland being named among the nation’s 2024 Best Nursing Homes by U.S. News & World Report. This year marks the center’s second consecutive recognition by U.S. News for its high performance in long-term care.

Additional notable honors for the Bergen County provider include being named one of “America’s Best Nursing Homes 2024” by Newsweek, which marked consecutive-year honors as well.

“Marquis is proud to support Oakland and congratulates the team on the center’s national recognition, time and again, by such credible resources,” Burgos said.

Brick-based Marquis Health Consulting Services provides administrative and consulting services to skilled nursing facilities and senior housing communities along the Eastern Seaboard. The organization’s operational guidance enables its client facilities to overachieve their quality and customer service goals by embracing a progressive, multispecialty approach to health care.
