Rebecca Lubot, a well-known policy and external affairs expert with numerous sectors of specialty, has formed her own strategic consulting firm, Lubot Strategies, she announced Tuesday.
After spending years in both the public and private sectors, Lubot said she wanted to lean into her broad academic and professional background to provide clients with substantive services that work in tandem. She feels the firm’s ability to deliver integrated, bespoke services carefully tailored to each client’s goals will be its calling card.
Lubot, who earned a doctorate in history from Rutgers University – New Brunswick, is an expert in higher education issues. She also is well versed in renewable energy and climate change mitigation and adaptation — and has experience in workforce development, historic preservation, gun violence prevention and health, health care and pharmaceuticals.
Lubot said the firm’s services include strategic advising; business development; local, state, federal and international government affairs; public relations; stakeholder outreach; association management; policy research and analysis; and more.
Lubot was recently named to the National Small Business Association leadership council, and joins the council alongside other small-business advocates from across the country to promote the interests of small business to policymakers in Washington, D.C.
She said she is eager for the new challenges.
“Having worked closely with policymakers since the start of my career as a White House intern, and now as a small business owner, I see daily the importance of being involved and active when it comes to laws and regulation,” she said. “Joining NSBA’s leadership council will enable me to take our collective small business message to the people that need to hear it most: Congress.”
The appointment also segues with the firm’s work for clients such as the New Jersey Sustainable Business Council, which is comprised of small and midsized businesses, whose membership shares a commitment to advancing a combination of market innovation and policy change to create a more just and sustainable economy.

Lubot’s extensive résumé includes not just her stint at the White House and work for government affairs firms such as the Raben Group and Porzio Governmental Affairs, but also positions with U.S. Sen. Frank Lautenberg, New Jersey Sen. John Girgenti and on congressional campaigns.
She has served as chief policy officer for the New Jersey Department of Education, and as a director at a strategic and crisis communications firm, where she was responsible for the executive management of the Governor’s STEM Scholars program.
In addition to her doctorate, she holds an M.Sc. from the London School of Economics and Political Science and a B.A. from Boston University.
