RWJUH Leader Elected to American Society of Echocardiography board

Dr. Kameswari Maganti has been elected to the American Society of Echocardiography board of directors. Maganti is a professor of medicine in the Division of Cardiovascular Disease and Hypertension, Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, section chief, noninvasive cardiology, and director of the Echocardiography Laboratory at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, an RWJBarnabas Health facility in New Brunswick.

Maganti’s two-year term on the board begins this month.

“I am proud to be elected to this leadership role to help shape practice standards and advance this important discipline within the field of cardiology,” Maganti said. “It’s an honor to serve with my colleagues on the board to enhance the profile of echocardiography through the sharing of best practices and exchanging ideas to elevate our field.”

The ASE board of directors is comprised of 20 voting members who are cardiovascular ultrasound specialists. These individuals are elected to the board by a nominations process open to all voting members, and ratified by the membership of the organization.

ASE is the largest global organization for cardiovascular ultrasound imaging, serving physicians, sonographers, nurses, veterinarians and scientists and, as such, is the leader and advocate, setting practice standards and guidelines for the field. Since 1975, the society has been committed to advancing cardiovascular ultrasound to improve lives.

Prior to her appointments at RWJUH and RWJMS, Maganti served in numerous professorship and directorship positions in cardiovascular imaging, echocardiography, multimodality imaging, cardiac rehabilitation from both academic and hospital appointments.

Nationally, Maganti is a recognized leader in the noninvasive cardiology community. She has been regarded by many, including her peers and students, as a passionate and intentional professor, and her receipt of numerous best teacher awards over the years is evidence of her outstanding teaching ability. For over 20 years, Maganti worked at the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine and Northwestern Memorial Hospital, serving in various leadership capacities.
