Redford promoted to director of public affairs for N.J. Food Council

Delaney Redford has been promoted to director of public affairs at the New Jersey Food Council for her work on behalf of food retailers, including supermarkets, independent grocers and convenience stores and their supplier partners.

Redford plays a critical role in grassroots advocacy and member engagement on priority policy issues, such as combatting organized retail crime, food insecurity and packaging mandates. She has initiated many member relations campaigns, including a new membership campaign called “Welcome Wednesdays.”

Redford also coordinates membership policy committees and provides members with important and timely communications through a weekly newsletter and regular social media updates. She is also helping NJFC to modernize operations with fresh ideas and perspectives.

NJFC CEO Linda Doherty said the promotion has been well earned.

“In just under three years since she joined the NJFC team out of college, Delaney has helped advance our agenda and implement the four pillars of our association’s mission,” she said. “Her dynamic work ethic and ability to connect with members, policy makers, legislators and other business trade groups have been a tremendous asset to the NJFC agenda. Her promotion is fitting and well deserved.”

Doherty said Redford will continue to coordinate public affairs campaigns to support legislative and regulatory issues that impact the food retail and distribution industry. She will be taking a greater leadership role in legislative advocacy, fostering relationships with policymakers, and coordinating with other trade associations on legislation.

The New Jersey Food Council is the Garden State’s preeminent trade association representing almost 400 companies including 1,200 retail food stores, wholesalers, manufacturing and service companies that collectively employ more than 250,000 associates in the state.
