RWJBarnabas Health joins Healthcare Transformation Consortium (HTC)

RWJBarnabas Health has joined the Healthcare Transformation Consortium (HTC), a collaboration of leading, independent health systems in New Jersey working together to advance health care services for their employees and dependents.

Atlantic Health System, CentraState Healthcare System, Holy Name Medical Center, Hunterdon Healthcare, Saint Peters Healthcare System and Valley Health System are already a part of the coalition, now RWJBarnabas Health is the seventh organization in the HTC.

By joining the Consortium, the number of lives covered by the HTC climbs to more than 110,000. By partnering and capitalizing on their collective size, information sharing, and best practices implementation, member organizations can offer employees and their families enhanced choices and promote overall well-being, manage and optimize benefit costs and partner with best-in-class vendors.

It also enables maximization of clinical collaboration to further support chronic health conditions and specialized care needs.

“By joining forces, the HTC facilitates collaboration to enhance and improve access to high-quality health care for covered employees and dependents while reducing costs,” Mark Manigan, president and chief executive officer for RWJBarnabas Health said. “Our noble mission of creating and sustaining healthier communities in New Jersey starts with our own employees and their families. We are proud to join the HTC in creating an innovative new model for health care delivery for New Jersey and beyond.”

RWJBarnabas Health, along with all members of the HTC, have self-funded employee health plans.

“We are delighted to welcome RWJBarnabas Health to the HTC,” Audrey Meyers, Chair of the Board, Healthcare Transformation Consortium and CEO Emeritus for Valley Health System said. “We look forward to collaborating with them to offer their staff and their dependents enhanced medical benefits as well as develop and implement additional Consortium strategies to innovate the care we provide to all those we serve.”

The consortium’s long-term vision emphasizes continuous improvement, innovation, and sustainable health care models that adapt to changing needs. Unique partnerships also provided added value.

In 2023 the HTC announced its partnership with Wildflower Health to launch a statewide value-based maternity care initiative that will transform the delivery and financing of maternity care. The continued success of the HTC stems from working closely with like-minded organizations. Sharing best practices, learning from each other, and leading the transition from fee-for-service to value-based care will continue to grow with the incorporation of new organizations choosing to become part of the consortium. The goal of the HTC is to bring the lessons learned from managing the cost and quality of its own employee health plans to local employers in New Jersey.
