As New Jersey’s Winter Termination Program, which protects eligible customers from electric, gas and water utility shut-offs during the winter months, ends on Saturday, March 15, local officials and utilities are coming together to educate seniors in Woodbridge Township about available programs that can help reduce utility costs.
The free informational event, open to all seniors in the township, will take place at the Maple Tree Senior Center from 10 a.m. to noon on Thursday, March 13. The center is located at 109 Morrisey Ave., in the Avenel section of Woodbridge. The event’s goal is to help senior citizens learn about utility assistance programs and energy-saving tips that could lower their electric, gas, and water bills.
Representatives from key utilities serving the area, including PSE&G, Elizabethtown Gas, and Middlesex Water, will be on hand to provide details about financial assistance programs and energy-saving initiatives. In addition, officials from the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities (NJBPU) and the New Jersey Utilities Association (NJUA) will be present to answer questions and guide attendees through available resources.
Mayor John McCormac emphasized the importance of the event, especially as the warmer months approach when utility rates typically rise.
“We are excited to host this event as we look toward the spring and summer seasons when energy demand and costs can spike,” said Mayor McCormac. “Our senior citizens, many of whom are on fixed incomes, will benefit greatly from learning about these cost-saving programs and energy efficiency tips.”
