Wakefern to host job fair on May 3

Wakefern Food Corp., the nation’s largest retailer-owned cooperative whose banners include supermarket chains ShopRite, Price Rite Marketplace, The Fresh Grocer, Gourmet Garage and Fairway Market, said Monday that select stores will host hiring fairs on Saturday, May 3.

Candidates looking for career opportunities and experience in retail can attend the job fairs from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at store locations in New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, Delaware and Maryland. In New Jersey, Wakefern employs about 40,000 workers at 360 stores and is one of state’s biggest employers.

Candidates can visit most participating ShopRite, Price Rite Marketplace, The Fresh Grocer, Gourmet Garage or Fairway Market stores. A hiring representative will be available to speak with candidates. Full-time, part-time and management positions are available, depending on location.

Available positions include general, perishable, front-end and stocking clerks. These jobs have flexible hours and a variety of cross training. Training programs include a game-based training app intended to help the associate succeed in the store’s environment. The cooperative’s family-owned stores also provide team members opportunities for career growth and community engagement. Hunger-fighting and sustainability events take place throughout the year.

Entertainment, tuition discounts, and scholarship opportunities are also available for successful candidates.
