In recognition of National Hispanic Heritage Month, South Jersey Industries (SJI) has announced the formation of Hispanic Organization for Latino Achievement, or HOLA, a new Employee Resource Group.
HOLA is focused on providing a platform to broaden and deepen an understanding of Hispanic and Latinx culture and promoting inclusion and belonging within the community. HOLA is available for all employees to join.
“I am honored to serve as executive sponsor for HOLA,” said Diana P. Donnelly, Senior Director, Customer Experience, SJIU. “This group gives us the opportunity to share the values and achievements of our Hispanic and Latinx employees and celebrate and embrace the richness of these cultures.”
One of HOLA’s first events was held at the St. Joseph Social Service Center, where volunteers made over 1,000 sandwiches at the 12th Annual “Hunger Doesn’t Take a Vacation” Sandwich Drive.
Elizabethtown Gas, a subsidiary of SJI, was a sponsor of the event, which takes place every summer in partnership with Assemblywoman Annette Quijano to help people facing food insecurity and homelessness.
Since 1983, St. Joseph’s has served the Greater Elizabeth area by providing basic human needs like food, clothing and medications, as well as much needed services and programs.
Later this month, SJI will host its third annual Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging Summit, underscoring its dedication to fostering a community, promoting awareness through education, and aligning inclusion efforts with business goals.
