South Jersey Gas and Elizabethtown Gas, subsidiaries of SJI, recently made charitable contributions totaling $500,000 to SHARES for customers who need assistance with their utility bills.
SHARES is a nationally recognized 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that provides statewide help and referral for essential services to those in need of assistance. SHARES serves as a “safety net” for households that face an emergency or a crisis.
These unexpected circumstances may result in the household’s inability to pay for vital services, which include energy (gas, electric), water, communications and housing resources.
“At SJI, our mission is to deliver safe, reliable, affordable energy to our more than 735,000 customers and businesses in New Jersey,” said Steven Cocchi, senior vice president and chief operating officer, SJI. “We are pleased to partner with SHARES, as they are a strong community resource providing utility assistance to customers who need it the most.”
“We are so grateful to South Jersey Gas and Elizabethtown Gas for this generous donation,” said Cheryl Stowell, CEO of SHARES. “These important funds will help make a difference for struggling New Jersey families around the state.”
In February 2025, South Jersey Gas and Elizabethtown Gas also made charitable contributions totaling $500,000 to SHARES.
