Three from N.J. named to Fairygodboss’ Best Companies for Women list

Women in New Jersey have spoken — and three companies have come out on top.

ADP in Roseland, Johnson & Johnson in New Brunswick and Accenture in Florham Park were recently listed by Fairygodboss among the Best Companies for Women in 2018.

“Most companies are trying to do the right thing when it comes to gender equality, but certain employers stand out for their efforts,” Georgene Huang, co-founder and CEO, said. “These Best Companies for Women should be proud that their female employees feel that they’re great places for women to work.

“Our research shows that women want to hear from other women about work culture, and we’re thrilled to showcase these companies and CEOs as some of the best in supporting women in their careers.”

Co-created in 2015 while Huang herself was interviewing for jobs (and two months pregnant), Fairygodboss is a New York City-based website that aims to increase transparency and parity in the workforce via job and company reviews for women by the women that work in them.

Based entirely on employees’ anonymous feedback, the site provides potential employees with the inside scoop on salaries, corporate culture, benefits, flexible work arrangements, child care and parental leave policies, job postings and more, as well as community discussion boards and career-related content and research.

Here are the New Jersey employers highlighted for leading by example this year:

  • ADP (ranked No. 3 out of 30, with a 90.9 survey score and a 4.4/5 review on Fairygodboss.com): Women make up more than 54 percent of this company’s workforce, as well as more than 30 percent of its senior management and 20 percent of its board directors. The company has created three business resource groups to help develop and engage female associates, as well as two to specifically assist in advancing women of color.
  • Johnson & Johnson (ranked No. 12, with a 79.4 survey score and a 4.2/5 review on Fairygodboss.com): Birth parents at the company receive up to 17 weeks of paid maternity leave, while their partners receive up to 8 weeks’ paid leave. In addition, parents can choose to take up to 52 weeks of unpaid leave if needed, as well as benefit from the stellar child care and elder care options and discounts offered. Lastly, the company offers financial assistance to both adoptive parents and those conceiving through surrogacy.
  • Accenture (ranked No. 21, with a 73.7 survey score and a 3.7/5 review on Fairygodboss.com): The company is driven in its goal to achieve a gender-balanced workforce by 2025, with women currently making up 40 percent of the workforce and nearly 30 percent of senior executives. To assist, Accenture maintains more than 100 local women’s networking groups in 40 countries, an online Women’s Network and a global CEO-sponsored executive leadership program for women senior executives.

Businesses considered for Fairygodboss’ Best Companies for Women in 2018 list were scored from 0 to 100 based on members’ anonymous surveys and responses to questions regarding their overall job satisfaction, perceived gender equality at work and recommendations to other women about working at their employer.

Employers are encouraged to register with the site not only to better recruit more diverse talent to their companies, but also to improve their brands, connect with consumers and market their most helpful policies and employee benefits.

Employers also can pay an annual fee to share content, highlight women at their companies and post vacant jobs.
