The Ammon Foundation: Company-sponsored and addiction-focused

Origin

The Ammon Foundation launched in October 2016 as the philanthropic endeavor of Ammon Labs — the drug testing provider of addiction treatment professionals and health care partners throughout the eastern United States.

Mission

The Ammon Foundation’s mission is to provide strategic support to remove barriers for those in addiction recovery seeking to continue their education.

Goals

The Ammon Foundation has committed to distributing at least $100,000 in scholarships in 2018. It is also focused on growing its Empowerment Workshop series and is hoping to hold 75 workshops by the end of the year. Additionally, the Ammon Foundation hopes to continue to establish partnerships with the local community to ensure it can provide resources to individuals in recovery and support a holistic, community-oriented approach to addiction recovery.

Programs

Through the Ammon Recovery Scholars Program, the foundation offers financial scholarships to individuals in recovery to pursue education (GED/HSE programs, certificate programs, vocational/trade school, two-year community college or four-year universities) and then aims to additionally support recipients with academic, personal and professional assistance.

In the Empowerment Workshop Program, the foundation has developed an evidence-based and nationally recognized six-module life-skills training program, with the goal of arming individuals with vital life skills — bridging the gap from treatment and recovery.

Achievements

Since Jan. 1, the Ammon Foundation has awarded over $41,000 in academic scholarships to 28 individuals in recovery. The foundation has also hosted 47 Empowerment Workshops.

Fundraising

The Ammon Foundation receives tremendous support from Ammon Labs — which covers all of the foundation’s administrative costs. Every single dollar raised is able to directly go towards scholarships and workshops. The foundation has raised over $80,000 since Jan. 1. Charitable donations are provided through generous supporters through the year, and the Ammon Foundation hosts a number of annual fundraising events.

Benefactors

To date, the foundation has been very lucky to be the benefactor of charitable gifts from a very diverse pool. Individuals, other foundations, corporations, small businesses, hospital systems, community-based organizations and more have all chipped in to support the foundation’s critical mission. This speaks to the breadth of impact that addiction has — as no population is unaffected.

Finally

The Ammon Foundation is currently in the midst of a capital campaign to raise $100,000 by the end of 2018 to support the Empowerment Workshop series. Named the Empowerment Hero Campaign, the $100,000 will enable the foundation to host 30 Empowerment Workshop Series across its area of operation and provide 600 people with invaluable, evidence-based skills education to ensure they have the tools for long-term personal success.
