10 N.J. firms land on Working Mother best companies for working moms list; 2 in Top 10

Working Mother released its 2018 list of the 100 Best Companies for working moms, and 10 New Jersey firms made the list.

Companies were selected based on a 400 question application on leave policies, benefits, childcare, flexibility policies and more.

The 10 Garden State companies were:

“We are excited to once again be among Working Mother Magazine’s top companies,” Roxanne Lagano, executive vice president, chief human resources officer and communications at Zoetis, said. “We strive to create an atmosphere where colleagues can give their best every day. We are honored to be recognized for our leadership in establishing policies, programs and a corporate culture that helps colleagues build rewarding careers, while maintaining healthy and happy personal lives.”

Two companies from New Jersey were selected to be part of Working Mother’s Top 10, although the Top 10 and Top 100 lists were unranked. They were Johnson & Johnson and Unilever.

Other companies that made the Top 10 cut were AbbVie, Deloitte, Ernst & Young, IMB, McKinsey & Co., Moody’s, Proctor & Gamble and WellStar Health System.

Johnson & Johnson, Merck and Prudential have all made the Top 100 list for 33, 32 and 29 years, respectively. Horizon has been on the list for nine years, and this is BASF’s first time making the cut.

“Horizon consistently sets the standard for ensuring that our workforce looks like New Jersey — a population richly diverse in color and culture,” Alison Banks-Moore, chief diversity officer for Horizon BCBSNJ, said. “Horizon is a stronger company because of the way we recruit, retain and provide advancement for women of all backgrounds and cultures,” she said.

Working Mother also created additional lists, the Best Companies for Multicultural Women, the NAFE Top Companies for Executive Women and the Diversity Best Practices Inclusion Index. Horizon and Prudential made all three lists while ADP, Johnson & Johnson, Merck made two of them and Unilever made one.

“Working Mothers are a vital part of our workplace and our community.  Whether you aspire to a C-suite role or simply want to be the best at whatever your chosen career path happens to be, ADP is committed to your success personally and professionally,” Rita Mitjans, chief diversity and corporate social responsibility officer at ADP.  “In addition to providing comprehensive benefits that support working moms, we established policies that support pay equity and advancement of women in leadership such as eliminating prior salary history questions from the recruiting process and establishing women-in-leadership goals tied to executive compensation.  ADP is proud of our progress and excited to once again be recognized as a 2018 Working Mother 100 Best Company.”
