Leadership changes at RWJBarnabas Health include promotion for Mansue

RWJBarnabas Health announced a string of leadership changes and changes to how it operates the Southern Region in a statement Monday afternoon.

The changes include a promotion for Amy Mansue, formerly president of the Southern Region, to executive vice president and chief experience officer of the system.

“These changes help to position us as a national leader in academic medicine, respond to the dynamically changing health care environment and improve the health of our communities,” said RWJBarnabas CEO Barry Ostrowsky. “While our hospitals continue to be the foundation of our delivery system, our focus is shifting from treating illness to maintaining the health of the people of New Jersey, training the next generation of health care providers and integrating care across the continuum. We are effecting these structural changes to better achieve our goals.”

New positions at the systemwide level include:

  • David Mebane: Executive vice president and general counsel;
  • Eliza Ng: Chief medical officer, population health;
  • Lina Shihabuddin: Chief medical officer, primary care, physician services;
  • Joshua Bershad: EVP, physician services;
  • Richard Davis: Chief financial officer, Northern Region; and senior vice president and CFO, Saint Barnabas Medical Center;
  • Gail Koslya: CFO, Central Region; and SVP and CFO, RWJUH Hamilton;
  • Gabriel Kaplan: Chief medical officer, Behavioral Health Network;
  • Suzanne Spernal: VP of Women’s Services;
  • Vicente Gracias: Interim chief academic officer.

The most significant changes, however, include an overhaul to the Southern Region, its definition and executive roles.

The Southern Region includes facilities in Monmouth and Ocean counties, which are consolidating under a single leadership team.

The team includes Bill Arnold, who will serve as president.

Other positions include:

  • Eric Carney: CEO of Monmouth Medical Center;
  • Patrick Ahearn: CEO of Community Medical Center;
  • Frank Vozos: Remaining CEO of Monmouth Medical Center, Southern Campus;
  • Nikolas Alexiades: Regional CFO;
  • Shirley Hwang: Regional VP of business development;
  • Diann Johnston: Regional chief nursing officer;
  • Richard Kiernan: Regional chief human resources officer.

The position of chief medical officer lead, who will also serve as the liaison between the health system headquarters and the regional team, is still vacant.

“We believe these changes will work to advance the collective success of our three Southern organizations by integrating our services across the region to achieve safe, high-quality and cost-effective care, while expanding our academic programs,” Ostrowsky said.

“We are excited about the possibilities for a single team focused on all aspects of care for the communities served by these facilities.”
