Arc of Warren County, building awareness of services for individuals with intellectual disabilities

Origin

The Arc is a national organization that has served individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities and their family members since 1950. The Arc of Warren County is one of 700 chapters of The Arc and is celebrating 65 years of service this year.

Goals

Goals in the immediate future include building awareness for the organization and developing a comprehensive Arc Foundation Board for Warren County. In addition, a short-term goal would be to create more services in the service area for those with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Programs

The Arc of Warren County’s programs include 17 residential group homes and three supervised apartments, day services, community-based supports, advocacy services, recreation and summer camp, Special Olympics training, early intervention and a wide variety of additional social services.

Achievements

In the past year, The Arc of Warren County has made significant progress in the transition from contracted services through the state to fee-for-service system as a direct Medicaid biller. Our Early Intervention Department successfully transitioned to the New Jersey Early Intervention System online management system while continuing to provide quality services and support to our families.

Fundraising

Fundraising is handled through special events, such as The Arc of Warren County Radiothon with WRNJ, a triathlon presented by DASH Multisport LLC and a Grand Harvest festival. In addition, fundraising is managed by cultivating relationships. In the future, it is our goal to explore grant opportunities to further the mission for the individuals and families that are served by The Arc of Warren County.

Community Partners

SASCO Otterstedt Insurance, WRNJ Radio, First Hope Bank.

Finally

The Arc of Warren County is seeking to develop a robust foundation board for our chapter.
