Cross River Bank honors worthy causes with Pink Day, First Responders Day

The team at Cross River Bank, the fintech company based in Fort Lee, spent a pair of recent days honoring worthy causes as part of its goal of collaboration with community organizations, it announced recently.

On Oct. 24, Cross River held a “Pink Day” in conjunction with Sharsheret, a Bergen County-based nonprofit, in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Then, on Oct. 28, the bank celebrated National First Responders Day with a number of local first responders.

“At Cross River, we work tirelessly to support our local families, in our business as a community bank, but, more importantly, as a neighborhood partner,” Phil Goldfeder, senior vice president for public affairs, said in a prepared statement. “These two individual events were just another example of our team’s community spirit, as we all joined together to spread awareness for an important cause and took the time to honor the first responders of Fort Lee who keep us safe.”

The Pink Day event featured Melissa Rosen, Sharsheret’s director of community education, talking about women’s health, cancer genetics and more, as Cross River’s headquarters employees donned pink shirts to represent the fight against the disease.

“It was inspiring to be a part of the mass of pink T-shirts and the genuine interest in the topic at Cross River,” said Rosen, whose organization provides support and outreach to women and families dealing with breast cancer or at increased genetic risk for the disease.

The First Responders Day event, meanwhile, was dubbed “Heroes for Heroes,” and celebrated members of the Fort Lee Police, Fort Lee Ambulance Corps, Fort Lee Fire Department and Fort Lee Office of Emergency Management.

“It is important that we know our community, and that our community knows us,” Fort Lee Police Deputy Chief Stephen Gallagher said in a statement. “I would like to thank everyone at Cross River for their gracious hospitality, and I look forward to a long and beneficial community partnership.”
