Saint Peter’s University said it will freeze tuition for all undergraduate, professional and graduate students for the 2020-21 academic year in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Jersey City college also said returning full-time undergrads will be eligible for a Cura Personalis Grant of up to $250 toward any unmet need, in order to assist with degree completion. The school said “Cura Personalis” is a Latin phrase meaning, “care for the whole person,” and represents a hallmark of its Jesuit education.
“Value, affordability and college completion rates have always been major areas of focus for Saint Peter’s, and we realize they have become more critical than ever,” President Eugene J. Cornacchia said in a prepared statement. “We have decided to institute the tuition freeze and grants because we want to do everything in our power to ensure that our students can remain a part of the Peacock family.”
The tuition freeze will apply to undergrads, graduate students and students in Saint Peter’s School of Professional and Continuing Studies, across all programs.
Saint Peter’s also extended the new student enrollment commitment date from May 1 to June 1 to offer incoming freshmen flexibility with their college choice; the school noted it would continue to review new applications throughout the summer for the fall semester.
